Woods Bagot welcomes Andy Watts as Global Leader – Design Technology & Innovation

Woods Bagot, and the 7C Network, is strengthening its commitment and advancement to technological innovation and digital transformation with the appointment of Andy Watts as Global Leader – Design Technology & Innovation.

In this network-wide role, Watts will lead the development and delivery of a unified technology strategy across Woods Bagot, ERA-co, Impact Futures and Customs Bureau, bringing together design technology, innovation and emerging digital tools to enhance project delivery and operational performance.

Watts brings deep experience in the evolution of design technology, with a track record spanning multiple regions and practices. His appointment signals an ambition to build on Woods Bagot’s strong digital foundations.

“The biggest transformation facing the architecture industry is a practice’s ability to move at pace with technology,” says Watts. “There is already an incredibly rich history of design technology at Woods Bagot. The opportunity now is to bring that together into a cohesive digital agenda, one that supports world-class project delivery, connects diverse capabilities across the business, and allows us to embrace emerging paradigms such as artificial intelligence with clarity and purpose.”

Sarah Kay, CEO of Woods Bagot, said the appointment reflects the practice’s intent to lead, not simply adapt, in a rapidly changing industry.

“Andy’s deep understanding of design technology, combined with his clear vision for how AI and emerging tools can be meaningfully integrated into practice, makes him an ideal leader to drive innovation at a global scale,” says Kay. “His role is about ensuring we are not just responding to change, but actively shaping it.”

Watts sees the next phase of architectural technology as using tools strategically, streamlining workflows, freeing teams for creative and analytical work, and ultimately delivering better outcomes for clients.

“With AI and digital tools evolving rapidly, the challenge is cutting through the noise to make the right long-term decisions,” he says. “It is about having a clear vision, knowing what we want to achieve, and focusing where to invest and experiment.”

His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the design industry, positioning Woods Bagot to lead technological innovation in the built environment.
