Two asymmetrical mixed-use towers twist dramatically to create a beacon on the New York City skyline.
Talk to James Hickerson about Residential
The development consists of two bronze and travertine-clad towers connected by a shared podium and skybridge. The west tower, standing at 34 stories (122.5 m), is dedicated entirely to residences and residential amenities. The east tower, reaching 25 stories (92 m), houses a combination of hotel and residential units, with the hotel occupying the lower half adjacent to the High Line and residences on the upper floors.
One High Line’s unique design, with Woods Bagot as architect-of-record, optimizes views of the High Line, Hudson River, and Manhattan skyline. The twisting geometry at the corners of the towers reduces their overall bulk and creates additional separation between them, enhancing the visual appeal and functionality of the complex. The project also features below-grade parking, a five-story commercial building, multi-level retail space with frontage below the High Line and a public plaza along 10thAvenue.
Woods Bagot, as the Architect of Record, developed an innovative workflow for sharing the Building Information Model (BIM), utilizing multiple interoperability platforms to collaborate effectively with design and construction teams throughout all project phases. With its prime location and architectural ingenuity, One High Line offers residents and visitors alike a truly exceptional urban living experience in the heart of West Chelsea.
The complexity of One High Line required a design technology–led approach from the outset. Through sophisticated BIM modeling and data-rich coordination workflows, our team at Woods Bagot was able to resolve the project’s twisting tower forms, skybridge connections, and layered program while maintaining performance, constructability, and design excellence.”
