Woods Bagot’s London studio marks 25 years of design quality and project delivery in the UK and Europe

Woods Bagot’s London studio is celebrating its 25th anniversary of influencing cities across the UK and Europe through impactful architecture and design.

Established in April 2001 and part of the 7C Network, Woods Bagot’s London studio focuses on delivering buildings, spaces, cities, and places, covering a range of sectors and scale. Based in the heart of Fitzrovia in central London, the studio works across multiple disciplines, from architecture and interior design to placemaking and digital technologies.

Woods Bagot’s current projects include 85 Gracechurch Street, a landmark 30-storey mixed-use tower in the City of London, due to be completed in 2031, and an innovative, intergenerational residential scheme in Wembley. The firm continues to deliver numerous other major schemes for top-tier clients across the UK and Europe, including Google’s new German headquarters in Munich and hospitality and residential projects in Cyprus and Slovakia.

In its first quarter century operating in London, Woods Bagot’s completed schemes include The Londoner, London’s first ‘super-boutique’ hotel on Leicester Square, the striking St. Mary’s Calne School Library and Minthis, one of the most significant and ground-breaking wellness sanctuaries in the Mediterranean.

The anniversary was marked earlier this year by an event at the Wallace Collection attended by clients, collaborators, staff and prominent members of London’s real estate, architecture and built environment fields. The celebration provided the opportunity to reflect on the beginnings of Woods Bagot’s UK and European presence while looking ahead towards the next 25 years of architecture and city development.

“It’s a genuine privilege to lead the London studio as we celebrate this important milestone,” says James Taylor, Principal and London Studio Chair at Woods Bagot. “Within the evolving demands of the property industry over the last 25 years, the studio has maintained an incredible creative agility to repeatedly deliver inspiring and relevant buildings and spaces. We serve our clients with a unique blend of commercial rigour and creative thinking, while sustaining a strong focus on people. It’s very exciting to imagine what impact our collaborative approach will have in the next 25 years and beyond.”

Sarah Kay, Woods Bagot and 7C CEO, spent time in the London Studio earlier in her career. She added: “London is one of those places that always feels like home. Staff, clients, and partners who became friends back in 2005 are still part of the industry and I love reconnecting whenever I visit. The Woods Bagot London studio has really cemented itself as a truly ‘London’ practice over the years. Seeing projects like 85 Gracechurch Street on the skyline are great reminders of how far we have come.”

Woods Bagot’s London studio is currently led by five Principals: James Taylor, Simon Saint, Florian Frotscher, Peter O’Donnell and James Khamsi.
