Woods Bagot interior designer Sarah Barrett has been named among a cohort of 30 talented emerging architects, interior designers, product designers and innovators in Australian Design Review’s 30UNDER30 program for 2025/2026.
Sarah Barrett is a Woods Bagot interior designer within four years of graduation, named within the successful applicants for this year’s mentorship program. A passionate and detail-oriented designer, Barrett’s experience spans workplace and large-scale commercial projects.
“I would characterise my practice as people-centric and driven by empathy,” says Barrett. “At the core of my design philosophy is a genuine pursuit to understand the evolving needs of the modern workforce — how people work, collaborate, focus, and connect in today’s changing environments. I believe that thoughtful design begins with listening, observing, and responding to human behaviours.”
As part of the selected cohort for the mentorship program, Barrett says she’s most looking forward to building meaningful relationships across the industry with fellow designers and esteemed mentors alike.
“The opportunity to learn from and share experiences with respected industry professionals will be invaluable to my personal and professional growth, and I’m excited to develop alongside a community of designers who are shaping the future of our industry,” says Barrett.
In May this year, named participants will take part in a high-performance leadership and creativity retreat in Bali, where emerging designers will be paired with experienced mentors within the industry.
“Over the one-year mentorship program I hope to gain valuable insights and knowledge to help refine my practice,” she adds. “Being nominated for the program is an honour and I feel privileged to be part of such an esteemed and talented cohort of designers.”
Since its inception in 2022, the 30UNDER30 program has provided a platform to progress budding design experts while strengthening the industry at large. This year’s mentors include acclaimed product designer Ross Gardam, COX Architecture director Brooke Lloyd, co-founding and managing principal of Cera Stribley Chris Stribley, AJC Architects CEO Dua Green and BVN principal Sally Campbell.
According to mentor Brooke Lloyd, the selection process for the final 30 designers and innovators was very challenging. “The process was incredibly inspiring. The finalists showcased an abundance of creativity and clarity of thought,” she says. “The future of our industry is in good hands.”
