Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the Frankenstein’s creature of the digital era, challenging humanity’s ownership of creativity as we know it and, for many, it is an unnerving thought.
But, argues Architect Jet Geaghan, AI is a powerful tool that will save designers time and unlocks new dimensions of creative ideation. “Both functions will synthesize the role of the designer towards a more productive, augmented future,” he says.

The Hong Kong and Shenzhen studios of Woods Bagot combined to win the design excellence competition for the Haikou Jiangdong Tiandi mixed-use project on the island province of Hainan in far southern China. Their proposal creatively envisioned a leading future city to drive the growth of Hainan Free Trade Port.

The busy Transport team cleverly overcame a major design challenge in its work at Sydney’s Central Station with an innovative, artistic solution rooted in the aesthetic of Australia’s busiest rail hub. “We wanted to give Aboriginal heritage a voice through a creative installation,” said project leader John Prentice.
