Transforming the traditional clinic into a cozy healing place for families.
The Xi’an Angel Children’s Clinic, designed by Woods Bagot, is a three-story neighborhood clinic that has changed the conventional atmosphere of children’s clinics. This clinic is the first of three new children’s clinics to be established by the Angel’s establishment, with locations in Xi’an, Chengdu, and Kunming. The design team tied together the three clinics’ themes to strengthen and connect each space’s visual identity and design language. The layout of the clinic enhances the medical experience for children, families, and caregivers.
Talk to Pearl Huang about Xi’an Angel Children’s Clinic
The Xi’an Clinic sets a unifying tone for the future of clinics, breaking away from the traditional waiting room design. The clinic effectively combines light and color with function and form to create a playful and uplifting medical journey. The use of warm lighting, plush furnishings, and greenery creates a welcoming and calming atmosphere for patients and their families, which helps to alleviate the anxiety and fatigue that can be associated with visiting a medical facility.
The Woods Bagot design team has succeeded in creating a cozy and uplifting environment for children and families visiting the Xi’an Angel Children’s Clinic. By incorporating natural elements such as warm lighting and greenery, the team has created a design that not only meets the clinic’s functional requirements but also enhances the overall experience for patients and their families. The design sets a new standard for the future of clinics, where comfort and atmosphere are just as important as functionality.
The way we design for care must be uprooted. Changing needs, new technology and updated models of healthcare delivery mean that it’s time to fundamentally change our healthcare infrastructure to focus on people over systems.
