John Prentice

Principal, Sydney Studio Chair, Global Sector Leader – Transport

John Prentice is an Architect and Urban Designer with 25 years of global experience. He is a Principal at Woods Bagot, which is part of the 7C Network. John leads the Sydney Studio Hub, which includes three Australian Studios, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane and represents the Hub on the Global Studio Executive. 
 
John is responsible and accountable for the performance of the studios through effective leadership, building a collaborative culture and providing an environment for creativity and rigour to drive excellent design outcomes for our clients, cities and the environment.  
 
An established and award-winning architect with a design approach rooted in empathy, John is always considering the human experience at the heart of every project. He prides himself as a clear and influential communicator, adept at synthesising a wide range of perspectives to achieve the best possible outcomes. Where the design process is just as rewarding as the finished result, thriving on collaborating with talented individuals from all backgrounds. 
 
John has led the design collaboration for major city shaping projects in a variety of sectors, including Transport, Residential, Retail, Commercial, Hospitality, Health and Education. He has been involved in projects at all scales and stages, from masterplan to architecture and interior design to product design. 
 
Most notable projects include award-winning Metro Stations at Sydney Central Station and Crows Nest, Wynyard Walk, luxury retail precinct at 25 Martin Place, the Nan Tien Cultural Centre, Masterplans for Sydney Olympic Park Metro, The Bays and Pyrmont Station, Universities and city precincts —projects that showcase a commitment to innovation, sustainability and cultural heritage. 
 
As an advocate for fostering diversity within our industry, John is a Champions of Change Coalition alumni, for an initiative focused on addressing gender inequality in the industry. John is deeply committed to shaping a more inclusive and forward-thinking culture within the architecture and design profession.
