An early design sketch by Woods Bagot of one of five Northbrook villages.
Winton has appointed Woods Bagot as portfolio architect of their best-in-class luxury retirement product, Northbrook.
Focused on refinement, not retirement, Northbrook unlocks a lifestyle focused on quality and style for residents to enjoy the later years as they desire.
The vision for Northbrook was to curate a retirement offering for people in their later years to live life to the full without compromise. With exquisite locations, thoughtful design and premium facilities to provide an exacting quality of life for discerning patrons.
Winton conducted a robust process to appoint an architect for the first five villages, interviewing and testing design teams with studios from New Zealand and abroad. They were seeking a firm that understood their vision, could draw upon their global experience within luxury environments and deliver best in class retirement living.
Following a two-stage process; Woods Bagot presented a team of experts who innately understood what Winton wanted to create and could deliver a comprehensive design solution bringing Winton expertise within a seamless global studio environment.
Andy Gentry, Auckland studio chair and Woods Bagot principal and an industry leader, is leading the team, appointing the best talent for this unique project including Eric Buhrs, Bronwyn McColl, Alex Hall and Ian Lomas.
Andy Gentry commented, “The sincere value-alignment between Winton and Woods Bagot makes our collaboration all the more exciting. We both pay allegiance to a ‘Best by Design’ principle and a belief in design’s capacity to create new communities. A strong, shared sustainability agenda is matched by an ambition to create spaces that are in close dialog with their context, sitting harmoniously within New Zealand’s best locations.”
He continues “We are all living longer, and New Zealand is no exception. Northbrook breathes new life into later living, delivering the exceptional standards that residents have chosen throughout their lives.
Northbrook is such a compelling proposition because it has never existed before. It’s premium residential, premium hospitality and premium lifestyle all nestled within the context of retirement living and we are thrilled to be onboard.”
Julian Cook, Director of Retirement Winton, said “We are delighted to partner with Woods Bagot as the esteemed portfolio architect for Northbrook. Their appointment is further validation of their proven and world-class ability to deliver luxury environments. While a lot of initial design and foundation work has already begun, we look forward them to being onsite in July 2022.”
