Woods Bagot’s Hong Kong studio recently hosted a delegation from the Royal Institute of British Architects, bringing together global accreditation perspectives and local practice in a session focused on professional pathways for the next generation of architects.
Woods Bagot recently welcomed representatives from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to its Hong Kong studio, hosting a visit that connected global accreditation perspectives with local practice.
Alison Mackinder, Director of the RIBA Professional Education Programme, and Po Fung, Director of Strategic Market Development Asia, visited the studio to share insights into RIBA registration routes and evolving professional standards. The session gave team members a clearer understanding of international accreditation frameworks and their relevance to practice in Asia.
The visit followed the recent RIBA Fellows Forum, where Principal Christopher Lye, Honorary Secretary of the RIBA Hong Kong Chapter, represented the Chapter as host. The forum brought together members of the architectural community for an exchange on leadership, professional responsibility, and the evolving role of architects in shaping cities and society, recognising two newly appointed Fellows in the process.
“Supporting the next generation of architects is critical to the future of our profession. Creating clearer pathways to accreditation, alongside exposure to diverse modes of practice, enables young designers to build confidence, capability, and a stronger sense of purpose within a rapidly evolving industry,” says Lye.
Together, the two events created a valuable opportunity for direct exchange, connecting global institutional perspectives with local practice and highlighting the importance of continuous learning in shaping the next generation of design professionals.
