Matt Stephenson, principal and chair of the New York Studio was selected to serve on the jury for the 30th SARA NY Design Awards.
The Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) is a professional organization of architects and industry related partners founded in 1956 with the mission of working together for the betterment of the architectural profession, sustainability of the environment, support of the public good and advancement of each other as “architect helping architect.”
The SARA NY Council celebrates excellence and design through the SARA NY Design Awards, which attracts entries from across the country and around the world from individuals, firms, and students of architecture and applied disciplines.

Matt joined 4 other jurors including, Davi Weber (BIG), Brian Messana (Messana O’Rorke), Sean Pickering (RAMSA) and Valerie Costa (MJM+A). At a recent event, each shared their personal experiences working in the field of architecture and their insights into what they observed in adjudicating the submissions for this year’s awards.
Matt shared, “It was a privilege to discuss this year entries and themes with the rest of the juror and leadership team and exciting to see the exceptional creativity and innovation in this years submissions. Looking forward to official win announcements in June!”
SARA NY recognizes achievements through multiple award levels, including Awards of Excellence, Honor, Merit, and special awards for innovation and student work. Design award levels will be announced lived on June 10th at the SARA NY Design Awards Gala.
