Woods Bagot wins two titles at this year’s British Homes Awards!

It was a great end to the week on Friday as the Woods Bagot London Studio took home not one, but two British Homes Awards.

Principal & residential sector lead, Simon Saint was there to collect ‘Best Interior Design: Development’ for the interior design at The Makers project in Shoreditch. Shortly afterwards, Simon was back on stage to collect the overall award for ‘Interior Designer of the Year’.

The coveted British Homes awards aim to “celebrate the visionaries, the hard work, dedication and excellence seen in British homebuilding”, judged by a panel of industry experts spanning the UK’s residential sector.

Developed in tandem with a school located on the same site, The Makers is a private residential development consisting of a 28-storey tower and an inter-connected low-rise block. For this project, Woods Bagot pulled from the local area’s history of craft to deliver interiors which are materially honest and rich.

Judges commented on the development: “Impeccable detailing, and a lovely combination of crisp clean lines but still with a homely touch. I love the colour in the bathrooms, the mix of furnishings and finishes in The Common and the flow of these public spaces works really well. Perfectly matched for an urban area with a luxury edge.”

Simon Saint comments on the win: “It’s always wonderful when our designs are recognised as creating great spaces for residents, but it’s especially satisfying that The Makers won these awards. Working with clients like Hackney Council to develop homes that connect with the people, and the area they’re in is one of the great privileges we have as designers.”

“We’re very proud of what we achieved at The Makers and it’s great to see others enjoy the design as much as we do.”
