Central Park North selected as Interior Design 2023 Best of Year Award Winner

Woods Bagot’s Central Park North in the heart of New York wins the On the Boards: Multi-unit Housing category at this year’s Interior Design Magazine Best of Year awards.

Central Park North is a 25-story mixed-income residential building which incorporates a diverse offering of residence sizes with rich amenities in addition to a 14,000sf ground floor community facility. Drawing inspiration from the rich cultural heritage and architectural context of its Harlem community, the design expresses contemporary aesthetics while honoring the significant history of the area.

The core of the building program also reflects a commitment to address the pressing need for affordable housing with emphasis on community spaces which serve as gathering points for social interaction, learning, and cultural exchange.

The building program also incorporates the importance of sustainable and green living. Through the integration of environmentally friendly features, the aim is to minimize the ecological footprint of the development. Energy-efficient systems, the use of sustainable materials and green spaces provide for a harmonious coexistence with the environment, promoting wellness, and creating healthy living for all.

Principal and New York Studio Chair, Matthew Stephenson, shares, “The 110th Street Concept Design represents our team’s unique approach to the project’s incredible Central Park and Harlem location, providing site-specific views at the upper floors through angular bay windows while shifting to create a pedestrian scale at the tower podium.”

Celebrating its 18th year, Interior Design’s Best of Year has become the standard of measure for excellence in design. This premiere design awards program honors the most significant work of designers, architects, and manufacturers from around the world.

Three Woods Bagot New York projects were selected as finalists for 2023 awards. In addition to Central Park North, D.S. & Durga Abbot Kinney was a finalist in the Beauty Retail Category; The Hendrix was a finalist in the Large Residential Lobby + Amenity Space.
