About the Role

The Studio Design Technology Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating design technology capability within a studio, ensuring that all projects are effectively supported and aligned with best practice. This role operates at the intersection of design delivery, technology application, and capability building – working closely with project teams, studio leadership, and the global Design Technology group to embed consistent, scalable, and efficient approaches to design technology. The Studio Design Technology Leader plays a critical role in ensuring that technology supports design quality, delivery efficiency, and project outcomes, while also contributing to broader organisational initiatives and standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead and coordinate design technology across the studio, ensuring all projects are appropriately supported based on scale, complexity, and need.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for design technology within the studio, providing guidance and direction to project teams.
  • Oversee the planning, prioritisation, and allocation of design technology support across projects, including specialist inputs where required.
  • Work closely with Studio Leadership to align design technology priorities with project delivery needs and studio objectives.
  • Provide input into project setup and delivery, including digital requirements, strategies, and alignment with client expectations.
  • Support and guide project teams to ensure alignment with standards and best practice, including review and issue resolution where required.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex design technology issues, coordinating with specialist and global Design Technology teams.
  • Establish and maintain consistent workflows, standards, and practices in alignment with global Design Technology guidance.
  • Identify capability gaps and support the development of individuals and studio capability, including mentoring, training, and building a network of capable users.
  • Collaborate with global Design Technology teams to implement tools, workflows, and initiatives, while contributing feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the integration of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled workflows, into studio practice.

About You

You are an experienced design technology leader with a strong understanding of how digital tools, platforms, and workflows support architectural design and delivery, including familiarity with industry-standard environments such as BIM, parametric design, and visualisation tools. You are comfortable operating across both strategic and project contexts, providing clear direction while remaining closely connected to the needs of project teams. You bring a collaborative and pragmatic approach, working effectively with studio leadership and global teams to translate broader priorities into outcomes at a studio level. You are confident engaging with stakeholders, guiding teams through challenges, and supporting the consistent application of best practice.

You are also naturally proactive in identifying opportunities to improve how technology supports design, and committed to building capability within teams through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 7 years’ experience working in design technology roles within an architectural or multidisciplinary design practice, including involvement in complex or large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrated experience applying design technology within project delivery, including across multiple or complex projects.
  • Advanced hands-on capability in one or more core BIM and design technology platforms, such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo, or equivalent tools relevant to Woods Bagot workflows.
  • Relevant qualifications in architecture, design, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of design technology in practice, including core tools, data workflows, and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate design technology across projects, translating requirements into practical delivery outcomes.
  • Capability to plan, prioritise, and allocate design technology support across a project portfolio.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to guide, influence, and align teams.
