Woods Bagot NYC and Arch30: shaping future architectural leaders

Congratulations to Woods Bagot New York studio members nominated and selected to participate in METROPOLIS’s inaugural Arch30 program.

In September, the program took place as an interactive workshop designed for professional development and networking for the “most talented and promising young architects” across the United States.

METROPOLIS’s Arch30 program recognizes emerging architectural leaders under 30 by collaborating with prominent city firms, one of them including Woods Bagot. Woods Bagot representatives included Designers Yoonwon Kang and Kyle Wilson, along with Associate Shanna Chan.

The initiative included workshops led by METROPOLIS editors Avi Rajagopal and Verda Alexander, fostering networking with program partners. The event aims to inspire young architects to consider workplace challenges, seek support, and pursue meaningful work.

Nominee Kyle expresses, “It means a lot to me to be recognized for METROPOLIS’s Arch30 program. This is the first milestone I have achieved since arriving in NYC and I couldn’t have done it without the support of my mentors and leadership at the studio. I’m looking forward to the road ahead as the industry changes and we change with it.”

Fellow designer Yoonwon also shared, “I am incredibly grateful to be nominated for METROPOLIS’ Arch30 program. I want to thank the NYC team at Woods Bagot for this achievement and hope there are many more milestones to be celebrated!”

No stranger to the 30 Under 30 recognition, Shanna, Associate at Woods Bagot, shares her thanks to the organizers and studio for the support, “I appreciate the opportunity to connect with fellow designers, editors, and manufacturers and to realize our shared responsibility towards the future of the Architecture & Design industry.”

The substantial conversations covered a variety of topics, spanning from leadership skills to the implementation of sustainable practices. The sessions wrapped up with informative presentations by program collaborators Autodesk, Pure + Freeform, PurOptima, and USG. In between sessions, attendees from New York Arch30 had the opportunity to interact, share insights, and establish connections that are poised to play a significant role in shaping their successful future professional journeys.
