An incredible feat for Heritage Lanes 80 Ann St! The acclaimed commercial tower received the prestigious Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) 2023 QLD Award of Excellence for Civic Landscape.

Congratulations to the award-winning landscape architects, ASPECT Studios, and the collaborative team including Woods Bagot and client Mirvac.

The award acknowledged Heritage Lanes as an exceptional example of a dynamic and energetic civic landscape carrying deep cultural significance.

Inclusion of First Nations representation on the team demonstrated a respectful acknowledgment and sharing of cultural values.

The jury praised the bold choices in materials and plantings, resulting in a lush and vibrant civic space.

The design and implementation process incorporated sustainable practices, further adding to its appeal while successfully combining different scales to deliver a balanced and engaging space in the heart of Brisbane.

The AILA Awards program serves as a platform to showcase the achievements and contributions of landscape architects in Australia. It offers public and peer recognition for their work and highlights the positive impact the profession has on the built and natural environments. The awards have two stages, the Chapter program and the National program, with winners from the Chapter level progressing to the National Landscape Architecture Awards program.

Additionally, the People’s Choice Award allowed the public to vote for their favorite projects in categories such as parks and open spaces, play spaces, health and education landscapes, and gardens. All of these projects contributed to the health and well-being of Queenslanders in their unique ways.
