Functional, Flexible, and Connected Design

Macquarie Singapore

A Dynamic Workspace Where Wellness and Fun Meet. Inspired by Singapore’s lush landscapes, this extension blends work, play, and connection with inviting communal spaces, warm finishes, and a focus on employee well-being.

Project details

At the heart of Singapore’s Marina Bay, Woods Bagot’s design for Macquarie’s Level 20 office extension at Marina One redefines what a workplace can be. Conceived as a seamless continuation of the main floor, the new level balances work, play, and connection—transforming a functional space into a community hub that reflects Macquarie’s collaborative culture.

The extension includes meeting rooms, a multipurpose room, a communal area, and a connecting staircase to the main level. Designed to foster engagement and well-being, the layout prioritises flexibility, comfort, and interaction. Every detail, from spatial planning to material selection, reflects Macquarie’s belief in creating spaces that foster belonging and joy.

Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s “Garden City” identity, the interiors feature lush planting, black-and-white tiles, and metal accents that echo the main floor. Terracotta quilted fabrics, rattan textures, and warm lighting create an atmosphere of calm and connection—like stepping into one of the city’s hidden gardens.

At the heart of the space, a communal zone beside the staircase serves as a social hub with a shared pantry, informal collaboration zones, and playful elements, including a convertible ping-pong/pool/meeting table and an arcade machine. This vertical link between levels brings people together and energises the workplace.

Flexibility was key to the design. The multipurpose room accommodates team briefings, wellness programs, and community events, while modular furniture allows the space to evolve with changing needs. Sustainability is embedded through adaptive reuse and integration with existing systems, minimising material waste and structural change.

Though modest in size, the project exemplifies how thoughtful design can transform underused space into a meaningful extension of a company’s culture. The Macquarie Singapore office extension offers not just more space, but an elevated workplace experience—one that supports performance, well-being, and community in equal measure.
