Woods Bagot Principal and Global Sector Leader – Hospitality Tracey Wiles has been recognised among three top interior designers across the Asia Pacific.
The Design Anthology Awards celebrate outstanding work in architecture, interior design, and product design across the Asia Pacific’s dynamic creative economies. The annual program honours individuals and organisations actively shaping public perception of design in the region.
Wiles has been shortlisted in the Interior Designer category alongside Yohei Terui and Hiromu Yuyama of I In (Japan) and Makoto Suzuki and Ayumi Koyama of AtMa Inc (Japan).
Since returning to Australia from a professional stint in the UK, Wiles has been leading Woods Bagot’s Australian Interior Design teams, using her crossover experience as a trained architect to think about design – beyond four walls.
“I’m inspired by projects that facilitate rapid-fire exchange of ideas and opinions through fully integrated design,” says Wiles. “A design succeeds when it responds to unique conditions – understanding the history, purpose and people of a space helps us create bespoke experiences that endure.”
Tracey offers a world-class portfolio of work with unparalleled design experience within the high-end residential and hospitality sectors. Her international portfolio reflects more than 25 years of experience leading award-winning projects across Europe, the UK and Asia for a diverse range of retail, residential, commercial and hospitality clients. Dedicated to reshaping and redefining the character of modern hospitality, Tracey has taken the interiors lead on notable projects such as the reinvigoration of Sydney’s historic Shell House. Described by Good Food as “a gift to Sydney – a deeply orchestrated succession of bars and dining rooms aimed at being the beating heart of the city”, the venue sets a new benchmark for hospitality experiences in Australia.
From the macro to the micro, Tracey believes that the creation of true luxury requires deep care and holistic consideration. Her meticulous attention to detail and intrinsic care for users’ needs has resulted in carefully crafted and highly bespoke experiences for her clients. Her work includes London department store Harrods, Norman Foster’s private residences, the new QT Hotel in Sydney’s Parramatta, and the redevelopment of the landmark hotel InterContinental Sydney.
This year’s judging panel comprised industry leaders Kate Cho and Daniel Song of Intg, Su Seam Teo of LTW, Chunyan Cai of Atelier Tao + C, Ashiesh Shah, Lim Masulin of BYO Living and Sosuke Nakabo.
Winners will be announced at a celebration on 2 October at Titik Dua in Ubud, Bali.
