Dear clients, friends, and colleagues,

We have had a busy first half of the year at the WB London Studio! There are exciting new office, hotel, masterplan and residential projects starting, as well as a number of spectacular project completions too (see below).

We have also had the pleasure of hosting some very insightful in-person panel discussions in the studio – with guests from Almacantar, Sweco & Excellion Capital – and it really is great to have our space back in full swing. The 3D printers are whirring, drawings are pinned up and rolls of tracing paper are flying around once again.

We have had several clients, consultants and even planning officers using the studio for a pit stop between meetings – so please do pop in if you are passing us on Riding House Street and we look forward to seeing you very soon!

Warm Regards,

James Taylor

The Hotel AMANO Covent Garden has opened its doors!

Woods Bagot London recently celebrated the opening of the new Hotel AMANO Covent Garden on Drury Lane. This was a top-to-bottom project for us, where we were responsible for all architecture and interior design.

Now officially welcoming guests, this hotel is a celebration of city life and culture, with distinctive art and design features throughout. Woods Bagot worked very closely with the client, transforming a 1980s office building known as Drury House into a stunning 141-room property – the first of multiple AMANO hotels set to open in the capital.

Woods Bagot joins Related Argent to mark the launch of the first phase of apartments at Brent Cross Town

We recently celebrated a new milestone at Brent Cross Town, as our client Related Argent officially launched the first phase of market sale residential buildings.

Woods Bagot is delivering all interiors for the first two residential buildings, including all 300 homes and amenities areas, as well as the temporary Visitor Pavilion including its café.

Working closely with Related Argent’s team, Woods Bagot’s interiors concept takes inspiration from the local history of the arts and crafts and Art Deco, but with a contemporary flavour, further inspired by the history of the nearby Hampstead Garden Suburb.

The London Studio Spring Dialogues return!

In 2020, the Woods Bagot London Studio launched the ‘Winter Dialogues’ – a series of on-the-sofa conversations where we talked with members of our studio and a mix of external guests about key topics facing the design and architecture industry today.

We have recently revived these sessions, bringing them to an in-person format in lieu of our return to the studio, with the same aim of having informal yet thought-provoking discussions that allow us all to think about the bigger picture.

The first of our 2022 Spring Dialogues sessions took place on Tuesday 29 March and panelists from Woods Bagot – Associate Indre Hobson and Senior Designer Jeremy Pearce – were joined by James Waite, Project Director at Almacantar and Gio Festa, Operations Director at Sweco, to discuss ‘net-zero offices’ – led by panel host James Taylor, London Studio Principal and Studio Chair. The key question being – what must be the focus for designers when creating net-zero offices?
