The Role

As a Senior Interior Designer, this role provides the opportunity to lead the design, documentation, and delivery of small to mid‑scale interior design projects, as well as manage significant packages within larger, more complex projects. You will bring a high level of design awareness, technical capability, and professional judgement, consistently contributing to project quality and helping shape the direction of interiors work across the studio.

You will work with considerable independence, resolving complex design and delivery challenges, coordinating with clients, consultants, and suppliers, and ensuring projects progress smoothly through each stage. You will play a key role in maintaining project quality, mitigating risks, and upholding Woods Bagot’s standards, systems, and design frameworks. In addition, you will support the development of the broader team by sharing expertise, guiding junior designers, and contributing to a positive, collaborative studio culture.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead the design narrative, design development, and technical quality of assigned interior design projects or project packages.
  • Develop spatial planning, test fits, schematic design options, and design development presentations.
  • Produce coordinated design documentation packages, including drawings, schedules, and specifications across project phases.
  • Manage day‑to‑day coordination with clients, consultants, suppliers, and engineering services to support smooth project delivery.
  • Identify project risks or issues early, propose solutions, and escalate when necessary to maintain design and delivery quality.
  • Apply Woods Bagot design standards, systems, and technical processes consistently across all project work.
  • Support Project Leaders in monitoring scope, program, and deliverables, ensuring work aligns with project objectives.
  • Contribute to and lead aspects of design reviews, internal critiques, and cross‑team collaboration activities.
  • Share technical and design expertise with junior and mid‑level team members, supporting their development.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism, organisation, and communication across all stages of the project.

About you:

As the successful candidate, you bring extensive experience across interior design projects and are recognised for your strong design capability, technical skill, and professional judgement. You are confident leading project components, resolving complex issues, and producing high‑quality outcomes with minimal direction.

You communicate with clarity, build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues, and contribute positively to a collaborative and high‑performing studio culture. You share your expertise generously, support the development of junior team members, and bring a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset to every stage of project delivery. With a mature, professional approach, you consistently uphold high standards and help drive excellence across the studio.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 10+ years’ experience in interior design or architecture
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience leading small to mid‑scale projects, or significant packages within large projects
