About the role

Based in our Brisbane studio, you will play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of workplace interior design projects, ensuring outstanding outcomes for our clients. This role suits a versatile designer with strong conceptual thinking, backed by extensive experience in the workplace interior design sector. You will take responsibility for project programs, lead and inspire teams, and safeguard design quality across every stage of delivery.

This role offers the chance to inform the future of the workplace sector within the studio, while also providing opportunities to explore and contribute to other sectors as the practice continues to evolve.

The position carries with it significant career development, giving you the opportunity to influence the direction of the workplace sector at a studio, regional, and potentially global level. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership while also mentoring and empowering junior and mid-level designers, helping to shape the next generation of talent within Woods Bagot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead bids and submissions for potential projects, competitions, and new clients
  • Contribute to strategic business planning for the Interior Design sector
  • Lead interior design teams to develop a project from concept through to practical completion
  • Liaise with engineering services and specialist sub consultants
  • Manage tender documentation package including drawings, schedules, and specifications
  • Manage construction documentation package including drawings, schedules, and specifications
  • Contribute to the culture and development of the interior design team

About you

You are an accomplished Senior or Associate Interior Designer with a strong background in designing and delivering workplace fit-out projects. Confident in leading projects from concept through to completion, you combine design excellence with commercial awareness to achieve outcomes that meet client ambitions and exceed expectations.

As the successful candidate you will have experience working with a collaborative, creative and resourceful team. You have specialised experience in the design and construction of architectural projects.

You will be able to demonstrate

  • 10-15+ years’ experience (or equivalent) working in the Interior Design field
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in concept design and narrative development
  • Experience in writing bids and submissions
  • Strong experience using Revit
  • Stakeholder engagement and ability to lead client meetings
  • Ability to write and manage project programs and experience delivering profitable projects
  • Lead and mentor junior staff
  • Ability and confidence in dealing with clients and consultants
  • Familiar with Australian building regulations and standards
  • InDesign and Photoshop skills, hand sketching skills desirable
