Parkmerced Block 6 Apartments

Two Residential Complexes to Increase Housing in San Francisco

Parkmerced—a postwar neighborhood designed by modern architect Leonard Schultze—has been long revered as one of the least-populated neighborhoods in San Francisco. As part of the new Parkmerced Masterplan, a 30-year strategy to densify the 60-year-old development, Block 6 is slated to help San Francisco with its current housing crisis and growing population.

The plan is to construct two 11-story towers, at 455 Serrano Drive and 850 Gonzalez Drive, on the west side of the block next to two existing towers. The new buildings will include a variety of amenities such as an interior recreation area, library, activity lounge with kitchen, outdoor bocce, and a community garden roof deck with a spa that will all sit on top of a two-level underground parking structure.

Within a total of 264,000 square feet (23,000 square meters), there will be 248 units. Multifamily units will inhabit the higher stories. At the ground floor, tenants can also enjoy common spaces.
