The new Defence Force School of Signals facility was established following a Defence review of single service training regimes. Growth and technological advances in communication and information systems training had added significant pressure on existing facilities at Simpson Barracks.
This project considered the collocation of satellite units for the Defence Force School of Signals to a single training facility at Simpson Barracks, Watsonia, Victoria.
Woods Bagot has been engaged as the PM/CA throughout the project with the design and relocation of infrastructure works being broken into 3 stages:
• Stage 1 - Building 290, the LIA and associated infrastructure
• Stage 2 - Building 64 Defence Force School of Signals Training Wing
• Stage 3 – Initial Training Wing, Defence Force School of Signals (including classrooms storage areas and working accommodation)
For stage 1 whilst acting as Project Manager/Contract Administrators, within a detailed business case, Woods Bagot completed 30% design in-house.
