Spotlighting Content and Culture for a Television Channel’s New Workspace

Spread across two-and-a-half floors overlooking Times Square, this new workplace integrates with Viacom’s other multi-platform entertainment brands within its global headquarters. The design goal was to create an exciting, collaborative environment to attract and retain the best talent while affirming Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) “Yes to Black” identity.

Stepping off the elevators, staff and visitors are met with rotating super graphics that are canvased from one surface to another, showcasing BET’s distinctive culture and upcoming shows. The background palette and textures are intentionally understated to allow these designs to stand out.

To open up the environment and infuse it with natural light and views, several perimeter offices were removed—increasing transparency and boosting connectivity amongst team members. The remaining offices and conference rooms were renovated with glass walls that display quotes from iconic figures in African American culture and entertainment.
