Four projects designed by Woods Bagot have been recognised in five categories at the 2017 Master Builders Association (MBA) of NSW Excellence in Construction Awards.
Recognising excellence in commercial construction, the awards are the commercial building industry’s most prestigious program, attracting entries from the state’s largest commercial, industrial and civil contractors in a range of categories and price divisions.
CPB Contractors was awarded two prizes for Wynyard Walk, winning for both Civil Engineering ($50,000,001 & over) and Innovation – Construction Technique/Equipment. The project team, including structural engineers TTW, was commended for developing solutions that significantly reduced construction impacts, with the jury citing the project as a ‘world class pedestrian link’.
“The project team overcame significant difficulties with innovative engineering solutions and completed the project to the highest standard of finishes to produce a world class pedestrian link that is a credit to the whole design and construction team.”
John Holland won the Construction – Tertiary Buildings ($70,000,001 & Over) category for The University of, while Buildcorp Interiors was awarded best for Construction – Retail Buildings – Refurb/Reno/Extension ($25,000,001 & Over) for work on , Sydney.
“The completed rejuvenation of the Gateway Podium both internally and externally demonstrates the highest quality of workmanship, which has been achieved under extreme constraints and is a credit to the whole design and construct team.”
Ichor Constructions was presented with the award for Interior Fitout ($6,000,001 – $10,000,000) for The Chancellery workplace at the University of Technology Sydney, with judges citing an ‘elegant’ conversion of ‘a dark, drab area into a wonderful welcoming contemporary space’.
“Every aspect has its own individual appeal and one feels comfort when in the confines of the vast area. The design and workmanship is excellent throughout and functionality has not been compromised in any way.”
The Master Builders Association of NSW organises and promotes a comprehensive awards program for the building and construction industry, incorporating the residential, commercial and civil engineering sectors.
