A collaborative design effort between the Woods Bagot San Francisco and Beijing studios, the Xiangjiang Fortune Finance Centre (FFC) development project consists of 600,000 sqm mixed-use space across four towers and serves as a hub in Changsha’s new Central Business District.
The focal point of the development is a 328 metre tall landmark tower. The landmark tower will become the city of Changsha’s most iconic and recognizable civic symbol, and the third tallest building in its skyline. Rising alongside the landmark tower is a smaller, but geometrically similar, 240 metre tower. Together, these two iconic towers create a globally recognizable gateway from Changsha’s historic city center to its new financial district and establish a model for all future developments along Changsha’s new city skyline.
A retail podium links the four tower development and spans across the east and west plots. Connected to the podium is a central event space that will host a variety of events and integrated activities throughout the year. Anticipated to be a high trafficked area, the design team ensured all arrival and departure areas would have minimal impact on the neighboring buildings.
The mixed-use towers will house commercial offices, a hotel space, and residential units and will target to achieve China Green 3 Stars, LEED Gold, and BREEAM Excellent rating. Construction for the towers started in January 2015. The project is scheduled to open by the end of 2020.
Complementing the project is the Xiangjiang FFC Marketing Display Centre, a finalist in the 2017 World Architecture Festival (WAF) Display - Completed Buildings category.
