On the island of Oahu, a new 61 acre, 22 tower residential master plan is on display in a visionary sales centre situated on the sixth and seventh floor of the historic, Vladimir Ossipoff-designed IBM Building.
Imagine a transformation of an industrialised beachfront development into an inspiring alternative – sublime condo living. Each tower will be designed by a different world-renowned architect. The sales centre sets the tempo of the development with central open public spaces, pedestrian links to nearby Ala Moana retail, as well as access to nearby mountains (‘mauka’) and beaches (‘makai).
The San Francisco, Melbourne and Sydney studios, together with landscape architects Surfacedesign Inc, combined their skills to reinterpret the Ossipoff spirit into a major transformative vision for Oahu. The design preserves the IBM Building’s distinctive concrete honeycomb brise-soleil and renews the surrounding landscape, reflecting an overarching commitment to honoring the site’s legacy.
At the ground level, the building is opened up and expanded to create more dynamic spaces and views. An information center will share the history of the land as well as the future vision for Ward Village. The project also included a complete interior renovation of the Howard Hughes corporate offices on the second floor of the building.
The Howard Hughes Corporation’s 10-year plan for Ward Village will add 22 new residential towers, set among dynamic public open spaces, and double retail, dining and entertainment space to establish a compelling mix of local neighborhood shops, restaurants and national retailers serving locals and visitors alike.
