The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology

Nature and Technology Create Award Winning University Campus.

In January 2007, Woods Bagot was named the winner of an international design competition for Lee Shau Kee Business Building and Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study for Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, other schools and campuses.

Lee Shau Kee Business Building: The arrangement of the wings of this 20,000 m2 building has been derived from the geometry of the existing campus overlaid with the geometry of traditional Chinese timber screens. The building is punctuated by a series of visible case study rooms or “knowledge lanterns.”

Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study: An iconic building that will draw world renowned intellectuals to the university. As a five-storey building sitting near the highest point of the site, it will become a landmark representing the pinnacle of academic life.

Hotel Accommodation for School of Business Management: A luxury hotel-style accommodation for visitors, it provides access to the existing campus and anchors the land bridge which arrives at the future campus village and transportation arrival node.

Institute for Advanced Study Residences: A resort-style retreat, it provides a spectacular outlook to Clearwater Bay and is within a short walk from the The Institute for Advanced Study. Each individual three-bedroom villa has its own private garden and an uninterrupted view of the Bay.
