NAB Village

Pop-up Style Co-working Village Enables Community Collaboration.

The National Australia Bank (NAB) Village Customer Innovation Centre provides a destination for users and NAB customers to meet, collaborate, share ideas and connect in a space that is relaxed and informal.

A hosted space, the village is custom built for the highly agile next generation worker. Drop-in desk spaces and casual catch-up and meeting areas, all with access to high speed wi-fi, enable a high-tech working and learning space.

Each meeting pavilion is designed to provide the user with a choice of space type – private to open – depending on task or purpose. Transformable spaces, a mix of furniture, graphics and artwork were all part of the design strategy to draw people in and experience co-working.

An integral part of the village experience is the opportunity to access the experience, knowledge and talent of community members and business specialists.

A digital experience room was engineered to provide a workshop environment showcasing how NAB is working with its customers to understand their online profiles in order to maximise business opportunities.

Process.

01

Focusing on the community

A new focus for NAB’s small business customers, this collaborative, creative meeting and working environment, called The Village, connects NAB to its community.

Complementing the other functional offerings within NAB’s buildings along Bourke Street, the space provides a destination for users and NAB customers to meet, collaborate, share ideas and connect in a space that is relaxed and informal.

02

Providing users with a choice

A series of pods branch off from the central space, or “Village Square,” providing the user with a choice of space type – private to open – depending on task or purpose.

The geometry of these pods is based on the architecture of the building.

The materiality such as plywood creates a sense of a pop-up environment.

03

A sustainable experience

The village garden features hanging gardens, with open work spaces providing opportunity for more focused tasks.

Sustainability was a key consideration, with the open spaces allowing the efficient use of lighting and other services, while the planting provides a healthy work environment and recycled materials have been used where possible.
