David Mann Library, La Trobe University

To Provide A Physical Focal Point for Interaction, Knowledge and Identity.

The new 1350m2 library at the Albury Wodonga campus provides a physical focal point for interacting, knowledge and identity. The building aligns with the existing central pedestrian path and a forecourt extends from the path to the library entry, providing a new landscaped civic plaza. A transparent glazed southern façade provides visual access to the internal activities of the library, giving the campus a sense of openeness.

The northern façade, in contrast to the southern, is composed predominately of masonry with horizontal windows. This allows material and colour to be complimentary to the remainder of the campus, and also provide a sense of permanence.
