Regional Design Leader

The Regional Design Leader is responsible for design quality, innovation and excellence in our Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Singapore Studios.

About the role

The role of the Regional Design Leader focuses on Architectural design areas of the business but has a vital oversight of Interior Design also working closely with the developed leadership and new design talent.

As the Regional Design Leader, you will develop, implement, and manage Woods Bagot’s design strategies, the implementation of processes and policy in order to elevate and constantly improve the quality of design, design culture and business performance efforts in the region.

• Understanding of principles of highest quality design
• Ability to author and facilitate innovative original design solutions
• Developing business though established client network and public representation of the firm
• Build effective agile design teams, coach talent to success
• Ability to interpret and develop a design brief and work successfully with stakeholders
• Creative, fast thinking and ability to convey ideas through sketches
• Ability to handle engineering co-ordination of architecture
• Ability to lead a design team and deliver on time
• Project resource and time planning and management
• Strong team briefing and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage design competitions efficient strategic design and communication
• Committed to low impact design strategies developed from objective benefit analysis.

About you

This role requires someone who has a true passion for design and is eager to stay abreast of developments of design techniques and trends. The ideal candidate will be experienced in building client relationships, leading and mentoring teams, and have a track record of high-quality conceptual design work and a built portfolio of large commercial architectural projects.

This position will suit an experienced Design Leader with an outstanding portfolio in built large-scale projects both locally and internationally. You will have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, exceptional design skills, a track record of developing innovative approaches to applying the latest tools and processes in your project work. Our ideal applicant will be at their best working in an open, collaborative, highly connected environment. In this role, you will work closely with the project teams to compose strategic design concepts then manage the team in developing and delivering world class design products that create high value assets for our clients.

Key requirements

• Degree holder in architecture from recognized institutions
• 15+ years relevant experience in quality practice
• Relevant experience in Asia & Global, large scale, built, high quality projects
• Strong conceptual design, communication and presentation skills
• Sound experience in the management of projects (design + design team)
• Excellent communication in spoken & written English & Mandarin
• Experience in 2D and 3D graphic and presentation skills
• Self-motivation and focus
• A willingness to undertake regional short duration trips for client liaison
