This is a really fantastic Sydney-based opportunity for a Learning and Development Specialist / Coordinator to join a small and friendly global L&D team. Along with interesting and varied work, your own personal and professional development will be supported through a range of employee benefits and programs. While it is a 12-month parental leave role, the team is expanding so it may become a permanent role.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to assist with the delivery of learning and capability development experiences throughout the entire employee lifecycle. As an all-round learning specialist, you will be responsible for in-house learning programs and providing technical expertise.

Reporting to Head of Talent and Development, you will be partnering with the broader global People and Culture (Human Resources) team, senior business leaders, and subject-matter-experts (SMEs) to understand business capability requirements, and their learning priorities and challenges to develop learning programs. You will also play an active role in enabling others in the business optimise delivery, engagement, and retention of their own learning solutions

Your Responsibilities

Being part of a small global team means that the role encompasses a wide variety of activities from instructional design work, learning curriculum design and management, L&D management reporting through to some aspects of the administrative support needed to rollout out global leadership training and implement other leadership and employee development activities. As the L&D Specialist, this means you will be involved in the full end to end process – course design, delivery and implementation.

Activities include:

  • Engaging and consulting with stakeholders and SMEs to understand the target audience’s training needs and business requirements/outcomes including the Woods Bagot capability framework and learning curriculum
  • Facilitating meetings/workshops to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Applying tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods to design and deliver sustainable learning solutions
  • Building and maintaining a learning curriculum aligned to the capability framework
  • Evaluating learning effectiveness through robust feedback process and measurement strategies to continually improve content, relationships and drive business outcomes
  • Assisting with planning, leading, and executing change management strategies critical to implementation of learning solutions
  • Assisting with the global compliance training program including developing new courses both in-house or with vendors, maintain current courseware, lead course reviews, vendor management, user management, technical support and reporting as required
  • Providing instructional design frameworks to enable the business to develop their own learning programs, activities, and materials
  • A small but important part of your role will be to provide administrative and logistical support for L&D activities for example, our global Leadership Development programs, 360 Leadership Feedback reports (via Qualtrics), and our compliance program

Qualifications and Experience

The key qualifications and experience required to succeed in this role:

  • A qualification (or equivalent) in a business-related field, or in adult education, educational technology, training and assessment. Those still completing their qualification will also be considered.
  • Ideally your experience has been gained in a professional services or corporate environment and/or medium to large sized enterprise. You may experience working in a global organisation and understanding of cultural sensitivities/differences on the design and development of learning programs
  • Some experience in delivering or supporting the design, development, and implementation of technical and business skill courses including eLearning, blended learning programs and micro-learning
  • Proven experience (at least 2 years or equivalent) in applying instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles, with program and project management experience
  • Potentially you will have some experience in facilitating meetings, workshops, and virtual/ hybrid/ face-to-face training
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including ability to storyboard, write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially stakeholder management and engagement
  • Proactive and able to demonstrate superior problem-solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a global team and as well as independently in a fast-paced environment
  • A mindset which enables you to multitask and manage time effectively, whether it is to facilitate training in different time zones, designing a new program or troubleshooting technical issues associated with L&D or HR related software applications
  • Enjoy working in a small team and have a ‘can-do’ and flexible approach

Technical Skills

  • 2 years+ knowledge in at least one recent Learning Management System (ideally Linkedin Learning, Cornerstone, Success Factors etc.)
  • Some experience in visual design and multimedia software (Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, Audition)
  • An understanding of course development software and skills (Storyline, Articulate, Captivate etc.)
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with Sharepoint is beneficial but not a pre-requisite
  • Experience in using virtual meeting / training platforms and other emerging mediums (MS Teams/Live Events, Zoom, Adobe Connect, Podcasts)
  • Curriculum and lesson planning skills
