Global Studio

Design Technology Specialist – Rhino

We are flexible regarding the Woods Bagot studio in which you are located. Options include: Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, New York City, San Francisco, or Los Angeles. We also run a hybrid work environment split between remote and studio based on your needs.

Woods Bagot is hiring a Design Technology Specialist focusing on Rhino to join a global research and development team driving cultural change through technical innovation and design technology. We’d love to talk with individuals with backgrounds in both design and technology, and who have experience in the use of Rhino and its ecosystem of tools to design, collaborate, communicate, and deliver the next generation of architecture and interiors projects.

We believe design and delivery must be agile, and we operate our international team to suit. We run a flexible working environment to ensure a strong work/life balance. This includes options for partial work-from-home and time-shifting your hours.

We want to work with you to create the future of design, delivery, and experience for the built environment. We believe this demands the development of new design and delivery workflows to cross the silos of AECO roles, enabling enhanced experiences for all stakeholders and those who inhabit the spaces we design. Woods Bagot will drive a workflow and technology ecosystem with an agile stance, moving beyond what is provided by a previously platform-centric technology culture. This new ecosystem elevates collaboration, communication, and data flow across the entire project lifecycle to be first-class citizens in design and project delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the research, development, and implementation of our Rhino and Grasshopper design environment. This includes customizations, development of plugins, design workflows, standards, and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development, communication, and training of model and data-driven design methodologies
  • Assist in the creation of training content for Rhino, Grasshopper, and related tools to help foster the continuous development of staff skills.
  • Engagement with our global design computation community
  • Engage in direct project support, both smaller assistance and larger project contributions, for key global studio projects, opportunities, and competitions
  • Collaborate with others in the Global Design Technology Team to deploy and support new software plugins, applications, and web environments.
  • Engage with Visualization and Environmental Analysis leaders in the implementation of associated workflows within Rhino.
  • Develop and promote Woods Bagot’s reputation for design technology expertise and quality project delivery, including participation in industry events and technical forums

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Design, or a related discipline
  • Experience delivering architecture or interiors projects is preferred
  • Experience with design computation workflows is preferred
  • Experience in the application of technology workflows to design projects
  • Advanced-level experience in Rhino and Grasshopper
  • Experience in Environmental Analysis tools (Ladybug, other) is beneficial
  • Experience with visualization platforms (Enscape, V-Ray, TwinMotion, other) is beneficial
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability use time effectively, maximise efficiency, and meet challenging goals
  • Ability to determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and independently
