About the role

The role of Design Leader is to be a Woods Bagot representative on projects, and the person ultimately responsible for the creative solutions of that project and advancing the design standards. Takes design lead on projects under the guidance of the project Principal and manages/mentors designers in the Woods Bagot studio.

About you

You will have a minmum of 8 years post-graduate experience within an international architecture firm and experience leading the design of large high-profile projects. You will exhibit a thorough understanding of project design philosophy and can provide input in developing design strategies.

Key responsibilites:

• Lead the design on projects from concept generation through to schematic design
• Seeks creative and innovative solutions and develops associated research and documentation
• Coordinate and manage work amongst the project teams
• Creative thinking to produce ideas and concepts, demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches
• Conduct client presentations and ensure the requirements are met within the terms of engagement
• Be able to produce high-quality, creative concepts for medium and large-scale projects
• Work with the Principal in Charge for design reviews and direction
• Ensure that all project risks are identified and mitigated in coordination with Woods Bagot management.
• Through professional leadership, assist in raising the standard of knowledge amongst the project teams

You will be proficient in the following systems:

• Rhino
• Revit
• Adobe Creative Suite

Experience and additional skills required for this role include:

• Demonstrated experience in creating the design of Residential Developments
• Experience in leading a team to achieve concept and schematic design
• Experience working on projects and teams within the Middle East
• Deep understanding of design best practice, tools, techniques and market trends
• Exceptional communication skills to liaise with internal and external clients
• Has the ability to work well under pressure and with demanding client expectations
• Strong interpersonal skills to work well as part of a diverse team
• Exhibit an inquisitive nature and strong problem-solving abilities
• Strong presentation skills, with proven experience presenting at both interim and final client presentations
• Arabic language would be an advantage

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Urban Design
• Post-graduate studies in the architectural or urban design field is preferred
• Registered Architect’s will be well regarded
