Business Development Manager

About the role

The role of Business Development Manager will be based in our Melbourne Studio overseeing 3 studios in our region, Melbourne, Adelaide and Auckland. The role is responsible for implementation of Business Development initiatives to support the local Studio’s to realise sector business plan aspirations. The role is all encompassing with a strong focus on strategic business development activities. Will consider part time working arrangements for the right candidate.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Contribute strategic advice to the Business Planning process.
  • Develop and implement a supporting BDMC strategic plan to support the Studio Business Plans.
  • Monitor performance of the sector revenues quarterly and implement actions to meet targets.
  • Create and implement with the local Principals Studio Client Relationship Plans to support the sectors.
  • Develop useful external relationships with fellow design /property /architecture /building /engineering marketing professionals, event company. representatives, industry body representatives etc.
  • Track and research project opportunities in the market and conduct client research.
  • Assess locally relevant client intelligence alerts and elevate opportunities when relevant to sector leaders, Regional BD Manager or Principals.

 

Client Stream

  • Coordinate and minute local Client Stream (business development) meetings and elevate any regionally significant opportunities or activities to Regional Client Stream via Regional BD Manager.
  • Maintain CRM database and assist with developing and capturing opportunities and Client action plans.
  • Maintain leads and proposal information in CRM and DI Portal and encourage engagement at Principal level.
  • Work with the Regional BD Manager to implement regionally significant business development initiatives.
  • Work with the Global Client Stream to execute globally significant bids and proposals management.

 

Bid coordination and production

  • Assess opportunities via media research and tender link alerts.
  • Ensure governance of bid process is followed including Go No Go (GNG) gateway, legal and risk reviews and fee approvals.
  • Strategic planning and research for bid responses.
  • Coordinate and lead How to Win (HTW) workshops and contribute to submission strategy.
  • Submission writing and text review.
  • Coordinate local studio material as required to support regionally significant or globally significant bids (if required).
  • Graphic design and layout of bids utilising Adobe InDesign (if required).

 

Events

  • With Regional BD Manager and local Principals, develop client invite lists for local boardroom lunches, seminars and forums, cocktail functions and workshops.
  • Contribute ideas to Regional BD Manager to assist in the development of thought leadership programs and other relevant Business Development events.

 

External Communications

  • Work with the Regional Communications Manager to identify and coordinate external communications opportunities.
  • Identify and coordinate appropriate local sponsorship opportunities and elevate to Marketing and Communications team to manage brand and reputation execution.

 

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have 15 + (or equivalent) years’ experience in a similar role as well as Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Commerce or Design related field (Interior Design or Architecture).

 

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Effective communication and written skills.
  • Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign).
  • Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Genuine interest in design/building/property industries.
