Relocating Westfield’s headquarters from its previous 30 year location allowed them to signal that the business was looking to the future. It was paramount to attract the next generation to Westfield whilst celebrating their heritage.
The aim was to create a built environment that fosters collaboration, innovation from within, face to face communication and greater interaction across the entire business.
Woods Bagot has created a client arrival space that allows the visitor to experience the Westfield brand and culture whilst catching glimpses of the working office. The crossover between client and staff occurs on the 3rd floor via a link bridge created by Woods Bagot. The bridge provides a connection from the Sky Lobby in 100 Market Street to connect to the new 85 Castlereagh Tower which will accommodate the corporate Westfield business and Lowy Family Group Business.
Designed to initiate a cultural change, the new workspace creates an environment that encourages collaboration within and between teams by maximising the use of space and creating flexible work settings. With a minimal number of private offices, it enables the space to be unlocked, and provides a variety of collaborative spaces to support the business divisions. A significant facilitator for cross divisional interaction is the interconnecting stair providing a visual connection between the 3 levels.
Team spaces were located around the perimeter of the building to utilitse the day light and in an egalitarian way share the best spots in the building.
