The site is arguably the most important site in the urban network of the Wuhua district of Kunming. The district government building is some 150 metres to the north east. Wuyi Road and the Yunnan Socialism Academy lie to the east. The site also borders the major arterial Renmin Road to the north, Fuzhaoyuan residential community to the west and the small scale retail Ru’an Street to the south.

The design objectives are to establish a benchmark development: to create a dynamic and vibrant public heart, a modern entertainment and recreation destination, and to create an environment which responds to the culture, climate and urban planning of Yunnan’s capital city.

In recognition of the site’s location and vital to the hierarchy of the district’s urban planning, the ideal solution is a 280 metre high corner statement with a secondary offset partner tower. This defines the corner of the main intersection and address Huashan Park on the north east corner of the intersection. A strong and tall corner statement also appropriately reflects the ambitions of the Kunming government to create an international city.

The third part of the exciting mixed use composition is the four level retail podium, appropriately integrated into the street pattern to the west and south while maximising frontage to the main streets.
