Mark is the manager of the Shanghai studio, responsible for coordinating the resources of the global studio on China projects. He is regarded by his clients as unrelenting in attention to their business objectives and the traditional principles of design. His passion for using this approach to launch new ideas on every project is highly regarded by experienced developers.
After graduating from the University of Western Australia, Mark completed an academic year of architectural studies on scholarship at the University of Copenhagen. He is an Australian registered architect, a member of Royal Australian Institute of Architects, a registered builder and has completed the Hotel Planning and Design course at Cornell University’s Hotel School.
Mark places particular importance on functionality in design. Experienced in the competitive development industry of Australia, he appreciates the role of efficient planning and low maintenance detailing to deliver whole-of-life value to Woods Bagot’s clients. This has opened significant opportunity in the China development marketplace as it matures and clients meet more competition from rapidly improving development standards.
Based in Shanghai, Mark works across the whole of Woods Bagot’s Asia Region. He has had numerous articles on design and business management published in industry journals in China and presented in a number of forums on the following subjects: Hotel and Resort Development - An Architect's Perspective; Hotel and Resort Culture; Green Building - The Other Bottom Lines; Better Retail Planning; Hotel Trends; The Headquarter Economy.
