The Insurance Australia Group (IAG) recognised the ‘definitive link between rising global temperatures and the increased frequency and ferocity of weather events’ - IAG Sustainability Report 2004.
In response, IAG is committed to a sustainable approach in all they do, including their new 7,000m2 fitout in Adelaide. Woods Bagot is working with IAG to achieve a Five Star Green Star fitout.
The design embraced social as well as environmental initiatives including:
- Reduced equipment levels
- Zoned lighting with motion and daylight sensors
- Rapidly renewable materials and demountable partitions
- Carbon dioxide monitoring
- Formaldehyde and PVC minimisation
- Low or no VOCs
- Toxin absorbing plants
- FSC certified timbers.
Beneficial outcomes include reduced CO2 output and running costs, excellent indoor environment quality, improved work areas, staff communication and interaction.
