In January 2007 Woods Bagot was named the winner of an international design competition for an Advanced Study Centre and new Business School for Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
The School of Business Management
The arrangement of the wings of this 20,00 m2 building has been derived from the geometry of the existing campus overlaid with the geometry of traditional Chinese timber screens. The building is punctuated by a series of visible case study rooms or “knowledge lanterns”.
The Institute of Advanced Study (IAS)
The IAS is designed to be an iconic building that will draw world renowned intellectuals to the university. As a five storey building sitting near the highest point of the site it will become a landmark representing the pinnacle of academic life.
Hotel Accommodation for School of Business Management (SBM)
Luxury hotel style accommodation for visitors to the SBM frames the access to the existing campus and anchors the land bridge which arrives at the future campus village and transport arrival node.
