Woods Bagot was engaged to provide a new design direction for Greater Union, in two new cinema complexes with eleven cinemas each at Campbelltown, 6,500m2 and Parramatta, 7,300m2.
The design innovations included improving the ticket purchase procedures to accommodate the growing trend towards pre-paid and electronic ticketing, re-designing the Candy Bar and re-branding Gold Class Cinema areas to create the appeal of the ‘ultimate’ cinema experience.
The design thought of this project was to enhance the entertainment experience by creating spaces which were creative yet sophisticated, places to meet and be seen, flexible to allow ambience changes from day to night and to create an arrival area that was efficient, theatrically anticipating and personalised.
The Gold Class Lounge provides a club-like experience in the evening. Complemented with personalised customer service, it has become the ultimate date venue.
New technology for ticketing, re-structuring and design of café and concession outlets, and streamlining of all these processes, has led to improved efficiency of the staff, and a more seamless experience for customers.
