This fully integrated base building and fitout is situated in Mount Gambier, South Australia. ForestrySA is the first regional Five Star Green Star certified project in the state. Being recognised as ‘Australian Excellence’, ForestrySA is also the first building to confirm the SA Government’s commitment to Five Star Green Star ratings for all future government facilities.

The extensive incorporation of architectural strategies including orientation and materials selection has been complemented with detailed services modelling and design. The reintroduction of native flora and the inclusion of a bio-swale stormwater retention system ensure that the site amenity and ecology has been improved greatly.

Some of the initiatives include:

• Passive displacement ventilation system
• Low levels of indoor air pollutants through the selection of low off-gassing materials, including carpets, adhesives, sealants and composite wood products
• Significant reduction in potable water usage through appropriate fittings selection and reuse of rain and grey water
• No irrigation requirements due to considerate landscape design
• Fully integrated fitout for 100% of NLA
• High levels of natural light penetration
• Use of recycled materials.
