Winners of an international design competition, Woods Bagot is responsible for the masterplan and development control plan for the Crescent of this significant land reclamation project for Durrat Khaleej Al Bahrain.
The 200ha development will create an active and vital mixed use community for around 40,000 residents and visitors, served by 50,000m² of retail, offices, schools, mosques and community facilities within a paradise garden setting.
The masterplan creates a vision which is breathtaking in its elegance, simplicity and clarity. The vision is founded on five layered concepts derived from the local culture and environment.
The design caters for a variety of residential typologies in five character precincts allowing for a diverse community. Private gardens and public domains incorporate active and passive areas where innovative design elements provide relief from the sun and integrate ESD principles.
Every apartment has a unique point of difference through view maximisation, garden connectivity and residence configuration. The central location of the mosque, the inclusion of an iconic tower and a dramatic waterfront promenade make this area the envy of the Middle East.
