Growing staff numbers created the need to extend the CSIRO Minerals Research facility in Perth, Western Australia. The CSIRO sought to transform the existing Becher and Koch buildings into an integrated facility that would become a focal point for minerals processing research and education within Australia and internationally.

The resulting extension incorporates a new reception wing which provides a public interface for clients and visitors that is clearly separated from the laboratory and work areas.
