CBD Tower Z11, Beijing

Z11 is a mixed-use commercial tower (240 m in height) that introduces a new icon to Beijing’s Central Business District (CBD). Consisting of 105 000 m² of office space, 30 000 m² of residential space and 5 000 m² of retail space, the building signifies a place where life and work are seamless.

The shape of the building is inspired by the movement evoked in traditional art and landscape, like a brushstroke in Chinese calligraphy. The building is sculpted by the path of the sun as it moves across the sky, optimizing views and thermal performance while creating a strong fluid gesture.

This movement is also showcased through a transformation of the urban greenspace. The new park and green necklace creates an identity to the area that is then reflected in the building, starting with the garden lobby, then activating the facade and creating various amenity areas for users on all levels. This culminates in a garden in the sky with incredible vistas of the city.

Further enhancing the environmental aspect of the design, the tower integrates sustainability principles, such as grey water recycling gardens, site-wide rainwater reuse, geothermal heating and cooling and natural ventilation concepts.

Z11 will establish the CBD as a world-class financial district and serve as a signature addition to the needs and future of the city.
