Woods Bagot was commissioned by Nakheel to masterplan and design the buildings for a new landmark community which forms the gateway to the Dubai Waterfront, one of the most prestigious projects in Dubai. The design has set the precedent for sustainable urban development in the United Arab Emirates. Its location and timing establishes, in tangible form, the standard for an Arabic Renaissance architecture embodying contemporary design and drawing influences from local traditional values.

The vision for Badrah is to create a vibrant development with a self sustaining mix of residential, commercial, retail and community facilities based on the principles of a Transit Orientated Development. A mix of housing will cater for a wide range of socio-economic groups.

Woods Bagot is currently supervising the construction of the first phase of 1000 residential units with further phases of 4,500 residential units, 25,000m2 of retail, 25,000m2 commercial towers and community buildings in detail design and scheduled for construction. The detail design is part of a drive to achieve affordable and sustainable housing in Dubai integrated into an urban fabric of public and amenity spaces.
