The schools project is a NSW Department of Education and Training initiative to deliver nine schools in Sydney’s metropolitan area and adjoining regions through a Private Public Partnership (PPP) methodology.
Design criteria were established as a result of a workshop by the consortium team at the beginning of the project to ensure the optimum result for each school. These criteria included building orientation to maximum comfort conditions and energy efficiency, creation of a dynamic learning environment and extending the learning environment into external landscaped areas for both formal and informal learning settings.
The project was officially announced on Monday 2nd December 2002, and by Friday 6th December, Woods Bagot lodged development applications for the first two high schools, Glenwood and Horningsea Park. Both schools were completed in 2004.
