Albert Park Secondary College is situated in a unique inner city location. The original school buildings were constructed in the late 60’s and are widely considered to be of a very poor standard. The school was shut down last year after a decade of dwindling enrolments and some of the worst VCE results in the state.
Woods Bagot were recently awarded the redevelopment of the Albert Park School which will include a middle school for years 7-9 and a senior school for years 10 -12.
The location of the school and the small inner city site on which its located presents a unique opportunity to create a multi level campus, an unusual configuration for an Australian school. The project is currently in the briefing phase with a series of community consultation workshops having just been completed. The new school is due for completion in 2009.
