The competition design for the Agricultural Bank of China’s new Chongqing 170 000 m2 branch office is inspired by the landscape, history and culture of its geographic context and establishes a new sustainable icon that captures the bank’s spirit of technology, innovation and community.
The tower massing presents a distinguished, balanced face toward Chongqing’s Central Park while expressing the dynamism of the surrounding landscape and urban forms. At ground level, the park is drawn across the site through a gracious entrance plaza and into grand public lobbies of the tower and banking hall. This sweep of nature continues into the very heart of the project, the tower atrium, through a vertical garden.
The light-filled atrium builds a vital office community. Daylight from both sides of the floor plate infuses the modular workspace, creating an efficient, flexible, comfortable, and high-performing work environment.
