Woods Bagot will have a high profile at the ninth World Congress of Metropolis at the Sydney Convention Centre, October 22-25. As well as joining the speaking program, the firm is a research partner and is contributing to two congress publications on China and urban regions, both in keeping with the congress theme of ‘Connecting Cities’.
The Congress' overall theme is 'Connecting Cities' highlighting the increasing importance of cities, more so than nations, as principal hubs of international interaction. 'Connecting Cities' will also investigate how the structure of metropolitan regions can replicate the success of these networks at a regional level, developing as polycentric cities of diverse functional hubs. .
Woods Bagot Director of Urban Design, Richard Marshall, will be presenting the opening overview to the Metropolis Congress 2008 Waterfront Cities Workshop on Saturday October 25, 2008. This session is part of the Urban Renewal stream of forums, workshops and seminars running throughout the Congress and will be a great opportunity for participants to exchange technical expertise and directly engage with city leaders and urban planners from across the world.
